11/13/2024 Public Hearing

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Local law has been introduced by the Town Board of the Town of

Lyme to establish a Town Wide Twelve (12) Month Moratorium on all Mining, Quarrying, and Heavy

Industrial Operations. 

The Local Law Prohibits any Enforcement Office, the Zoning Board of Appeals, or the Planning Board

from processing, reviewing, rendering any determination, granting any variance, or approval with

respect to any Mining, Quarrying, and Heavy Industrial Operations during the duration of the

Moratorium,

The Local Law declares that t violation shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $250 and/or injunctive

relief to prohibit such activities. 

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a public hearing upon the Local Law will be held at the Town Offices, 12175

NYS Route 12E, Lyme, New York on November 13, 2024, at 6:20 PM and that an opportunity to be heard in regard thereto will then and there be given to all persons. 

Chaumont Bridge Delays

Starting on Monday, August 12th, during the work hours of 7am – 5pm, traffic using the NY Route 12E bridge over the Chaumont River will experience periodic delays of up to 15 minutes due to the delivery and setting of the new steel girders. During these delays, traffic will be controlled by flaggers. The work is expected to last about 1 week.

Isthmus Fishing Access Closed August 1st-14th

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced the scheduled temporary closure of three popular destinations in Jefferson County. Visitors will be unable to access the following locations for a three-to-four-day period between Aug. 1 and Aug. 14, 2024, to allow for scheduled maintenance of the parking areas:

The public is encouraged to pre-plan and utilize alternate access options during this time.

(Pursuant to Section 1526 of the Real Property Tax Law Revised by L 1970 ch957) Notice is hereby given that the Assessment Roll for the Town of Lyme in the County of Jefferson for the year 2024 has been finally completed by the undersigned Assessors, and certified copy thereof filed in the office of the Town Clerk on the 1st day of July, 2024 where the same will remain open to the public for inspection until October 1st.
