Notice Concerning the Examination of Assessment 

Inventory and Valuation Data (Pursuant to Section 501 of the Real Property Tax Law)

Notice is hereby given that assessment inventory and valuation data is available for examination and review. This data is the information which will be used to establish the assessment of each parcel which will appear on the Tentative Assessment Roll of the Town of Lyme which will be filed on or before May 1st, 2025.The information may be reviewed, by appointment, in the Assessor’s Office at 12175 NYS Rt 12E, Chaumont, NY 13622 on May 7,13,14 between the hours of 10 am and 2pm and on May 17 between the hours of 4 pm and 8pm by appointment only. An appointment to review the assessment information may be made by telephoning the assessor at (315) 649-2387.

NOTICE OF COMPLETION OF TENTATIVE ASSESSMENT ROLL

(Pursuant to Section 1526 of the Real Property Tax Law Revised by L 1970 ch 957)

HEARING OF COMPLAINTS

Notice is hereby given that the Assessor of the Town of Lyme County of Jefferson, has completed the Tentative Assessment Roll for the current year; that a copy thereof has been left with the Town Clerk at 12175 NYS Rt 12E, Chaumont, NY 13622 where it may be seen and examined by any person interested therein during the hours and date following: May 7,13, and 14 between 10am and 2pm, May 17 between the hours of 4pm and 8pm by appointment only. On “FOURTH TUESDAY OF MAY NEXT,” The Board of Assessment Review will meet between the hours of 12:30pm and 4:30pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at 12175 NYS Rt 12E, Chaumont, NY 13622 to hear and examine all complaints in relation to such assessments, on the application of any person believing himself aggrieved hereby.

Emergency Meeting 4.16.2025

The Town of Lyme Board will hold an emergency meeting April 16, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at the Town Municipal Office, to discuss Cedar Grove Cemeteries and any other business that may come before the board.

Highway Garage Special Election 5.13.2025

NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION

Town of Lyme, New York

RE:  TOWN HIGHWAY BARN

          PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Special Election will be held on May 13, 2025, regarding construction of, and financing for, a new Town Highway Barn.  The election shall be held at the Town Offices located at 12175 NYS Route 12E, Chaumont, NY 13622.  The polls shall open at 12:00 pm and shall remain open for voting until 8:00 pm.  The proposition to be voted on will be as follows:  Shall the Town spend a maximum of $4,822,656.52 to construct a new Highway Barn?”

Please note that voters must meet eligibility requirements in order to vote in the Special Election.

Cedar Grove Cemetery Director

The Town of Lyme is now accepting applications for the position of Director of the Cedar Grove Cemeteries. This role involves overseeing the upkeep of cemetery grounds, managing the sale of burial plots, and handling the day-to-day operations of both Old Cedar Grove Cemetery and New Cedar Grove Cemetery. The Director must be available on an on-call basis during evenings and weekends.

Interested applicants may submit their applications by mail to the Town Clerk’s Office at PO Box 66, Chaumont, NY 13622, or deliver them in person to the Town Offices at 12175 NYS Route 12E, Chaumont, NY 13622. Application should be submitted by May 5, 2025.

An applicant will be appointed during the Regular Town Board Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.

Notice to residents: DANC Line Maintenance

Please be advised that the Development Authority of the North Country (DANC) will be scheduling above-ground water line maintenance on all properties accommodating the main service line from the Town of Brownville to Cape Vincent. This includes all Town of Lyme and Village of Chaumont residents on the line. The Town of Lyme Department of Works will be working with DANC to manage this landscaping project along the length of the line within our jurisdiction.

This collaborative enterprise will begin in Brownville, March 13, 2025 and will continue until further notice. Thank you for your understanding.

Air Compressor Bid

The Town of Lyme is accepting bids for an Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor. The air compressor still works properly and is available for viewing at the Town Highway Garage.

Sealed bids will be accepted until the close of business at 4:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.  Bids may be submitted by mail to Lyme Town Clerk, PO Box 66, Chaumont, NY 13622, hand-delivered to the Town Clerk’s Office, 12175 NYS Route 12E, Chaumont, NY 13622, or emailed to lymetownclerk@townoflyme.com. Bids will be opened on January 8, 2025, during the regular monthly Town Board Meeting. The Town Board reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids.

Part-Time Summer Recreation Positions

The Town of Lyme is looking for reliable and enthusiastic individuals to join our Summer Recreation Program team. This seasonal program runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., July through August.

We are currently hiring for the following part-time positions:

  • Program Director
  • Director’s Assistant
  • Two Recreation Assistants

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and supervision of program participants
  • Engage children through educational and recreational activities
  • Collaborate with team members to create a fun and positive environment

Part Time Groundskeeper

The Town of Lyme is seeking a reliable and motivated individual to fill a part-time Groundskeeper position. This seasonal role requires 20–25 hours per week, running from May through October.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and prepare Town Park grounds, including athletic fields
  • Operate hand tools and landscaping equipment
  • Clean and remove litter and debris from park grounds and building areas

Additional job requirements and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
